House hunting is a slow process

Past two months, we have been searching for a home in the Seattle Eastside area.  We are actively looking and placed two offers but have been rejected.  It's so disappointing when you see something that you can see yourself in and get kicked in the ass because something falls through in the process.  My brother purchased a home in Chicago and it took him nearly two years to finally find something that matched his taste and price range.  I thought it would be easy to find a home since it's a "buyers market" but it seems we might follow suit with this long term shopping ordeal.  The funny thing having an offer accepted is just the tip of the iceberg.  What happens if it doesn't pass inspection or the bank won't accept our loan, etc.  This process is so painful.  The good side of waiting for the right home is being able to build up our money pot.  Just saying, this is stressful.

Our first night in Portland

After some change of events (see my blog for details) the family headed down to Portland on the amtrack. SUPER COOL AND WE ALL LOVE TRAINS NOW! Last night after my conference sessions ended we headed out to the Vegetarin House in Chinatown.

This place was pretty sweet for a veg head as myself, we were able to get "chicken" chow mein, "crab" ragoon, and tofu + "meat" hotpot. Basically the hot pot had fake shrimp, squid, chicken, pork, and beef. I've never eaten so much FAKE MEAT. I must say it was a pretty accurate replica of the original chinese items. I highly recommend this place for some vegheads and those wanting to skip the meat.

Tonight we are going to hit up the rouge brewery (YES!) which will be some good pub food and beer.
